Meet our teachers…
Steve Kropp was born and raised in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. He loved playing sports while growing up, and concentrated on basketball and track & field in high school. His track career continued at Lock Haven University where in 2000 he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in K-12 Health & Physical Education. Soon after graduation, Steve moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia to teach & coach in the Spotsylvania County Schools. In 2003, he finished his Master’s in Adapted Physical Education at the University of Virginia and accepted a position with the Piedmont Regional Education Program (PREP) in Charlottesville, Virginia. While at PREP, Steve started the Adapted PE programs in both Orange & Culpeper counties and founded the annual Special Games. The 2016-17 school year
is Coach Steve’s 17th year teaching, and 2nd here at Lavoy Exceptional Center in Tampa, Florida. Last school year he was recognized as the Hillsborough County Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the year! He loves the Miami Dolphins, exercise, playing electric guitar at his church, and enjoying Florida life with his wife and young boys.
Carlos Dominguez was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He did sports throughout his childhood, focusing mainly on Baseball. He graduated High School with honors and credits on pre-engineering. His first year in University of Puerto Rico, Carlos studied Civil Engineering. But soon after he switch to Adapted PE. During the bachelors degree on Elementary and Adapted PE, Carlos participated as the assistant coach of the Unversity of Puerto Rico women's Softball Team. During the third year of College, Coach Carlos went to Miami and got certified as a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer and started working on a Crossfit Gym teaching functional movements and specializing in Olympic Lifting and Gymnastics skills. After graduating College and obtaining his licenses on Elementary and Adapted PE, Coach Carlos continued coaching Crossfit as the Head
Coach at Reebok Crossfit Ironheart. After a year, Coach Carlos decided on moving to Florida. Here he started working part time at Nielsen Company for 2 months and coaching Crossfit. Soon after he got his Physical Education K-12 license for Florida Department of Education and started working at Lavoy. This 2015-2016 school year in Coach Carlos's first year teaching at Lavoy.
